10 Most Popular NFL Teams: Are There Really Two “America’s Teams”?

There’s 32 teams in the NFL hailing from 23 different states around the U.S and we’re here to figure out which teams are the most popular.

We live in a world of disloyalties where your favorite teams are more about the winningest team. Let’s take a look at the 10 most popular NFL teams:

10. New York Giants

The New York Giants benefit from having the largest TV market in America and don’t even need to play well to remain one of the most popular and highest valued NFL teams

With four Super Bowl victories to their name the Giants won a heck load of fans with victories in Super Bowl XLII and XLVI with Eli Manning shutting down the Patriots on both occasions.

9. Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks fans are known as the “12th Man”, have the #12 retired in their honor,  are amongst the craziest in the league and are well numbered as one of the most popular NFL teams.

Three Super Bowl appearances and victory in XLVIII has helped their popularity. The Seahawks also have 2.5 million X followers and are the undisputed kings of the Pacific Northwest.

8. Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos are so popular they were once considered to have dethroned the Cowboys as “America’s Team” with superstars Emmanuel Sanders and Peyton Manning on their roster.

A lot has changed since 2014 but what hasn’t is the fact the Broncos have sold out every home game since 1973, a year in which America was still involved in the Vietnam War.

7. Green Bay Packers

Wisconsin is so much more than just Muenster, Limburger and Brick. Among the many cheese varieties Wisconsinites have Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers to be proud of.

The Packers are no doubt one of the most popular NFL teams with the sellout streak at Lambeau Field dating back to 1959, when Hawaii and Alaska first became American states.

6. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers aren’t as dominant as the 80’s and 90’s with stars like Jerry Rice, Joe Montana and Steve Young, but they remain one of the most popular NFL teams thanks to that era.

Five Super Bowl wins has made it easy to pass down the fandom through the generations and 49ers fans are the most actively engaged on social media at 2.96%

5. Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs fanbase was never widespread. That was until Patrick Mahomes started winning Super Bowls which sent everyone into a frenzy. Suddenly, everyone seems to go for the Chiefs.

When Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift started dating all the “Swifties” began to support the Chiefs and suddenly, it became the perfect marriage for the NFL with the new attention fattening the league’s wallet.

4. Philadelphia Eagles

One of the reasons the Philadelphia Eagles remain one of the most popular NFL teams is because of the deep rooted support in family traditions which has been passed down the generations.

A 57-year title drought ended at Super Bowl LII which helped the Eagles popularity soar and the franchise currently has more than 3.8 million followers on X alone.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers

No doubt you’ve seen the yellow “terrible towels” Pittsburgh games, and even at away games because of how popular the Steelers are. At home they’ve sold out every game since 1972.

Six Super Bowls has helped their popularity and the collapse of the Pittsburgh steel industry forced Steelers fans to migrate all around America, which is why Steelers fans are everywhere you go.

2. New England Patriots

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady totally transformed the New England Patriots franchise  into one of the biggest in the world on the back of six Super Bowl championships from eleven appearances.

The Patriots are the most followed team on X with over 4.6 million fans, and their continued success meant that almost everybody became a bandwagon supporter of New England during the era.

1. Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are the most popular NFL team and have been “America’s Team” since the 70’s. Superstars Roger Staubach, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin helped solidify their status.

Cowboys games have been sellouts since 2002 and are looking to add a sixth championship. With over 4.4 million followers on X they’re chasing down the number of bandwagon Patriots supporters.
